Ovarian Cancer Canada

Approximately one in 70 women in Canada are affected by ovarian cancer, with 2,300 new cases being
reported each year. Ovarian cancer is unfortunately a very deadly disease, since the symptoms often go
unnoticed or ignored until it has reached its later stages. It is the fifth-leading cause of cancer-related death
among women.

Fortunately, there are many stories of survival. As with many cancers, early detection greatly increases the chance of beating the disease.

Ovarian Cancer Canada is one of the only organizations specifically focused on fighting the battle against ovarian cancer. It is an organization that works toward educating and supporting both the women and families who have been affected by the disease. Organizations like Ovarian Cancer Canada lead the way by bringing awareness to the symptoms, risk factors, support networks, statistics, funding initiatives, as well as expanding research to aid in finding early detection techniques and improved treatment for those impacted by the disease. Ovarian Cancer Canada's ultimate goal is to discover a cure. In the organization's own words, Ovarian Cancer Canada has "changed the face of the disease, turning it from a whisper to a roar."

Fashion CURES a la mode has been designed both to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Canada and to increase the awareness of the disease. This event will enable people from the nation's capital and surrounding areas to become better educated about a disease that impacts women specifically, but touches their friends and families as well. A percentage of the event proceeds raised through sponsorship and ticket sales will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
